Background - Wide Bay Burnett Youth Sector Network |
Mission:
The Wide Bay Burnett Youth Sector will work collaboratively to meet the needs of young people in the region through addressing priority regional issues.
Goals:
- Identify existing hubs and look to how to connect and work with them to ensure youth services are delivered effectively in each community.
- Link Blueprint for the Bush, ACC and other funds to get a regional project up.
- Lobby new regional councils to ensure youth issues are identified and youth worker position is established.
Wide Bay Burnett Youth Sector Priorities for 2008-09:
The top 5 regional issues for 2008-09 are:
1.building capacity to ensure that services work together to service a community
2.peer support – support for workers in rural areas
3.holistic approach to supporting youth and families
4.focus on prevention programs (rather than band aids)
5.funding/ crisis accommodation/ affordable long term housing
