Linking into the Cooloola Human Services Network

The Cooloola Human Services Network Inc (CHSN) is a not for profit community organisation that has been the peak body representing the human services sector in the Gympie Region since 2002. Organisations joining CHSN assist in building and promoting a stronger human service sector for the Gympie Region.

CHSN’s Vision is for a responsive and inclusive community and its mission is to lead the co‑ordination and development of human services in the Gympie region.

CHSN’s multi-strategic focus includes:

  • coordinating networking sessions, collaborating information sharing and developing open communication channels for human service organisations;
  • developing needs assessments/community research projects for identified issues, assisting with developing joint action initiatives and coordinating the collaboration and optimisation of human services; and
  • providing a united voice for community action, community engagement and influence of human service organisations and individuals in the greater Gympie area.

Its members represent agencies from across all aspects of human services: counselling, education, aged care, housing, environment, community, children and families, health, employment, youth and disability services.

CHSN currently auspices over $340 000 in funding, consisting of Federal and State community grants which support a number of local community projects. These include:

  • Community Garden Project
  • Community Futures Project
  • Community Kitchen
  • Gympie Gaspers
  • Tai Chi
  • The Shed
  • Participating in Prosperity
  • Surface Hill Church Redevelopment Project
  • Way To Go Program

  • Gympie Regional Men’s Health Network

CHSN Display Van

  

The display van, as shown, is currently owned by CHSN, and sponsored by 15 other community organisations, which is utilised across the health and welfare continuum to provide information on services available, conduct health assessments and attend various opportunities across the Gympie Region to access population groups. It is also utilised to promote various health weeks and activities during the year e.g. Prostate Cancer Awareness, Domestic Violence Week, etc by setting up at public venues around the region.
